Interior Design – Blended

Emily Heroman

When designing the interior of her newly renovated home overlooking the grounds of Webb Park, Emily Heroman chose to blend traditional elegance with a more contemporary flare. The warm Villa walls, the tonal silk draperies, and the timeless plaster molding encasing the room work simultaneously to frame the space. The Italian slipcover sofas and authentic zebra rug complement the charcoal veined marble and art deco concrete floors, while the custom-made down pillows, fashioned from Nobilis embroidered French silk, create the perfect transition between the warm frame and stark furniture and floors.

The art that adorns the walls are all signed originals and vary in media. The trio of Robin Coles, hung vertically at the far corner of the room, project a strong sense of eclectic expression, while a watercolor depicting a warm landscape by artist Donna West is placed atop the Chinese alter table and adds a complementary green punch of color to the burnt orange backdrop.

Lighting is an integral part of the design and was specifically selected to reflect Heroman’s personal style. The contemporary palm lamp by Berts-Cason and a flambeau perched atop a copper side table present varied interpretations of modern lighting design, yet blend well together in their respective locations.

From the large ceiling medallion to the scored concrete floors, and from the fabulous collection of original art to the carefully chosen décor books, each detail of the space was thoughtfully considered. ✦
