Louisiana Homes & Gardens Design Awards 2008: Architectural Element: Stone, Metal and Wood
Architectural Element – Stone
Emily Heroman, Nu Crete Designs
Artfully hand crafted and designed out of aggregate and white Portland, these concrete floors are truly unique. The hand troweled white concrete is the perfect canvas for the rounded scoring pattern that was selected to blend with the contemporary styling throughout the home.
Architectural Element – Metal
Ralph Goodyear, Artistic Design Fabrications
This award-winning gate was inspired by the international art movement, Art Nouveau, which popularized organic, free flowing forms in the decorative arts and architecture during the early 20th century. The magestic qualities of the construction are made evident when considering the material with which the gate was constructed. Although iron, by nature, is hard, rigid and stiff, the curvilinear shapes appear relaxed and effortless, possessing an air of ease and an obvious mastery of material.
Architectural Element – Wood
